L.A. Should Tell NFL to Show Us the Money

Share

Bravo, Jim Murray. You got it exactly right: L.A. has not missed professional football one bit. Voices of reason are hard to come by during times of intense, seemingly one-sided negotiations. As the NFL’s and America’s favorite whipping boy, our rallying cry should be, “Millions for public benefit, not one cent for tribute to the NFL.”

Let’s stop the gravy train once and for all. NFL, you can’t have it all. Come to L.A. any time you like, just pay your own way. If the Coliseum isn’t good enough for you, build your own facility. Believe me, Mr. Tagliabue, L.A.’s got bigger issues than the lack of a football team. We’re too busy and too financially strapped trying to build a better city. L.A. deserves a true community partner, not some carpetbagger plundering our economy.
