Valley VOTE Petition Effort
Re “Newspaper Is Biggest Donor to Valley VOTE Petition Effort,” Aug. 8.
Who would have suspected? The Aug. 8 edition of The Times revealed that the Daily News is, to date, the biggest donor to Valley VOTE, having already contributed $60,000 toward its petition drive. However, I have always suspected that paper’s front-page coverage of the subject would have been better located on its editorial page.
Why was this support kept such a secret during most of the petition drive? Certainly it was nothing illegal, nor anything to be ashamed of. Could it have affected the success of the petition gathering? Maybe?
Did the crusading Daily News fear our vengeful city fathers?
