In celebration of its second anniversary, the Northridge Hospital Children’s Center will host an open house Saturday.

Titled “Summer Jamboree,” the event will feature activities for children, including arts and crafts, dance lessons, games and a book fair, said Jennifer Ptashne, education coordinator at the center.

A pastel portrait artist will draw caricatures of guests and a balloon artist will transform long balloons into animal figures, Ptashne said.

“It should be a fun event for the whole family,” she said.

About 100 people are expected to attend the open house. Public tours of the four-classroom center will be offered.

The facility now averages 50 children daily from 6 weeks to 5 years of age, said Tammy Reich, director of the children’s center.

“We have capacity for 80 children, meaning several openings are available,” said Reich, who also serves as director for the center’s Kids Care program, which provides day care for sick children.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the children’s center, 18460 Cantara St., Reseda. Free brunch will be provided.
