2 Men Arrested in Knife Slaying at Bar
Police have arrested two men in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Cudahy bar, authorities said Friday.
Hector Velos, 37, was knifed in the Lica Club on Clara Street about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Sciacca. Velos was pronounced dead at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, a coroner’s spokeswoman said.
Homicide investigators believe Velos was killed during a botched robbery, Sciacca said.
Deputies arrested Jose Melera, 28, and Israel Garcia, 31, after the two men fled the bar and drove away before crashing a short distance away, Sciacca said. Deputies found the two men hiding under a vehicle. They were booked for murder and held without bail, he said.
