A suspected drunk driver, who allegedly fled a mountainside accident that killed his three passengers, was being held on suspicion of murder Sunday, after the car was found hours later at the foot of a drainage culvert.

Aron Miron, 50, of Pacoima was being held at County USC Medical Center, said California Highway Patrol Officer Karen Faciane. He sustained major injuries in the crash, including trauma to the chest, abdomen and left arm, as well as cuts to his mouth.

Investigators would not release the names of the passengers, saying only that the bodies of two females and a male were found inside the vehicle.

At about 11 p.m. Saturday, the car was apparently going southbound on Little Tujunga Road in the Angeles National Forest and drifted off the roadway into a drainage culvert, killing the three passengers, Faciane said.

“The suspected DUI driver fled the scene,” she said.

A motorist noticed the car early Sunday morning. CHP investigators and Los Angeles County firefighters were called to the scene about 6:30 a.m. and found the car five to 10 feet off the road.

Faciane said investigators identified the driver and tied him to the incident through physical evidence. She declined to provide more details.

In a separate accident Saturday night, two motorists were killed on an Agua Dulce highway when a car drifted over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a Jeep, the CHP reported.

The accident happened about 11:40 p.m. on Sierra Highway, just west of Anthony Road.

A Canyon Country woman heading northbound in a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird crossed into oncoming traffic. She struck a 1992 Jeep Comanche, driven by a Lancaster man. Investigators said they did not know what caused the woman to stray from her lane.

The woman, 41, and the man, 40, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their names were withheld until families could be notified, said CHP Officer Gary Butler.
