Free Seminar on Safety Standards

Small-business owners are invited to learn about compliance with environmental and occupational safety standards at a free seminar Sept. 3 in Downey.

Sponsoring the seminar is the California Regional Environmental Business Resource and Assistance Center, which conducts programs for businesses on environmental and employee safety standards for the North Orange County Community College District.

The seminar will address the importance of environmental management plans developed by the International Organization for Standardization.

Although not a requirement in the United States, such standards are adhered to by some overseas companies. The center says that meeting the standards can help businesses remain competitive and expand into international markets.

The seminar will be at the Energy Resource Center, 9240 E. Firestone Blvd.
