Project Models to Be Displayed for Public
City officials said they will try to give residents a three-dimensional view of building projects before presenting them to municipal agencies for approval.
Councilman Dave Garofalo suggested last week that models of projects submitted by builders and developers be displayed publicly, giving residents a better feel for a plan before it goes before the Planning Commission or City Council.
“The more exposure we give these things, the more intelligent the debate,” Garofalo said. “We’re in the last phase of development in the community.”
Development projects that have caught the public interest include Meadowlark, Waterfront and Seacliff, he said.
Along with the model, a one-page written summary of the issues could be provided, he added.
City Administrator Ray Silver said he and economic development officials will scope out an appropriate viewing area; council members voted 7 to 0 to try to put the plan into action.
Councilman Tom Harman said residents should be cautioned that building models frequently are revised as they go through the approval process.
