No stranger to causes, Grammy-winning country star Emmylou Harris and her acclaimed band Spyboy play a benefit concert at the El Rey Theatre to raise awareness and funds to help eradicate the estimated 100 million land mines that still dot the earth from wars past and present. A silent auction precedes the show.

Kevin Eubanks is best-known as the bandleader for Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show,” but he has long been an adventurous and highly original guitarist. For four nights at Catalina’s, Eubanks will play mostly new music and originals with his quartet, which also includes his brother, trombonist Robin Eubanks, the virtuosic bassist Charnett Moffett and the versatile drummer Marvin “Smitty” Smith.

Ivan Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra, in the middle of a weeklong residency at the Hollywood Bowl, play Dvorak, Liszt, Bartok and Kodaly with pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Hungarian soprano Andrea Rost joins the orchestra for the Friday and Saturday all-Viennese programs.
