A woman suffered minor injuries Wednesday when she lost control of her car on the northbound Ventura Freeway and crashed into a guardrail near Sanjon Road.

Joanne Murray, 50, was taken by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura after the 2:45 p.m. crash, California Highway Patrol Officer Dave Cockrill said.

She was released Wednesday night from the hospital’s emergency room, a nursing supervisor said. Firefighters said Murray suffered neck and back pain.

Murray over-corrected and lost control of her car after she tried to move from the center lane into a lane where there was traffic, Cockrill said. Murray’s car skidded 30 feet along the guardrail, spun and then stopped, facing southbound in a northbound lane.

Two of the freeway’s three lanes were closed for more than an hour, causing several miles of backup. At the time of the crash, Murray was driving the speed limit, Cockrill said.

Officers did not know Murray’s city of residence but said the Ford Probe she was driving is registered in Arizona.
