Vigilantes Lose to Pacific, Fall Into Playoff Tie

The Vigilantes’ postseason hopes suffered a setback Saturday as visiting Pacific won, 8-3, in a Western League game in front of an announced crowd of 2,873 at Saddleback College.

Alan Burke had a home run and drove in two for Mission Viejo.

Pacific starter Dennis Moeller (8-7) finished with a seven-hitter and teammate Frank Valdez had three hits, including a home run.

Mission Viejo (47-39) is tied with Sonoma County (47-39) for the second-best overall record in the Southern Division with four games left. Chico has already clinched the title in both halves. Sonoma County scored twice in the ninth to beat Chico, 6-5, Saturday.
