Sam Jankovich, former University of Miami athletic director and New England Patriots chief operating officer, has been hired as interim athletic director at Cal State Northridge.

University President Blenda J. Wilson said Jankovich, 64, will be the athletic director for the rest of the school year.

Wilson appointed a seven-member search committee Tuesday to replace former athletic director Paul Bubb permanently. .

Bubb resigned Nov. 3, a week after former Cal State Northridge women’s basketball coach Michael Abraham was charged with selling crack cocaine.
