Gates Donation Will Aid Children

Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, said they are donating $100 million to establish a vaccine program for children in developing countries to speed up delivery of new drugs.

The program will work through organizations such as Program for Appropriate Technology in Health, an international nonprofit group aimed at improving the health of children and women. The donation, among the largest private health-care gifts ever, is being made by the William H. Gates Foundation, which was founded in 1994.
