Madrid Theatre

About 30-plus years ago when I was about 9 or 10, I got my first job. It happened to be where the new Madrid Theatre now stands. Yes, that’s right. I folded popcorn boxes for a penny apiece with my slightly older brother at the old Pussycat Theater. Needless to say, it didn’t last long after our parents found out. I honestly can say I didn’t know what played there until my brother showed me.
As a resident of Canoga Park, I welcome the addition of the theater. However, I think it will take time for some businesspeople to get acclimated to change. There’s new opportunity among the small shops in the surrounding area. I don’t think downtown Canoga Park will become another Westwood and lose the close-knit feel it’s had for years.
