From Times Wire Reports

Three Detroit police officers trying to pull over a van suspected of being involved in an abduction were shot and critically injured. Police Chief Benny Napoleon said one of the officers was expected to survive, but it was too early to tell whether the other two will pull through. “According to the description of one officer who was on the scene who was not injured, they were under very heavy gunfire from a very high-powered assault type weapon,” Napoleon said. The officers were still in their vehicles when shots were fired from a van they were trying to pull over. All three were shot in the face, with one of the officers shot in several other areas, Napoleon said. Napoleon said one suspect was arrested about 45 minutes after the shootings. Police were looking for others.
