Titans Are No Match for Bruins, 94-64
Maylana Martin led five Bruins in double figures with 16 points and No. 10 UCLA broke open a close game in the second half and defeated Cal State Fullerton, 94-64, before 660 at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins trailed, 17-6, before they rallied to lead, 34-33, at halftime. UCLA scored the first nine points of the second half and was never threatened thereafter.
“In the first half, there was a bit of commotion,” UCLA Coach Kathy Olivier said. “Maylana [Martin] hadn’t practiced during the week because her back was aggravating her, so the team was a little off. In the second half, we picked it up defensively and got a lot of easy baskets.”
Janae Hubbard had 14 points and Marie Philman, Erica Gomez and Carly Funicello added 12 for UCLA (5-2), which has won five in a row.
Andrea Thieme led the Titans (1-3) with 16 points.
