SEAL BEACH
Mayor George Brown became a trustee of the Coast Community College District board Friday, creating a vacancy on the City Council because he cannot hold both positions. The council is expected to make the vacancy official at its next meeting Dec. 14, and then has 30 days to either appoint a successor or schedule a special election.
Brown said he has mixed feelings about leaving, but noted that because of term limits he could not have run for reelection in two years.
