AT & T Wireless Services in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties has received 24 digital cellular phones from Ericsson Mobile Phones for use by nonprofit groups conducting special events.

The wireless phones come with donated air time from AT & T Wireless Services.

“We are happy to provide phones and service to nonprofit organizations and community groups who wish to secure event locations, enhance distance walks / runs with on-site emergency phone service, as well as raise funds through phone-a-thon programs,” said Sylvia Munoz Schnopp, AT & T public affairs director. “We can arrange the phones for up to two weeks of service in the local area.”

The phones are already scheduled for use by the Marine Corps during its regionwide Toys for Tots program, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International during its fund-raising walk in Oxnard and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at its annual Santa Barbara bike tour and festival.
