From Times Wire Reports

One of the judges who ruled that Gen. Augusto Pinochet does not have immunity from arrest on charges of genocide and torture is a director of a charity affiliated with Amnesty International, the Guardian newspaper said. Law Lord Leonard Hoffmann has been an unpaid director of Amnesty International Charity Ltd. for seven years, the London paper said. Last week, the paper reported that his wife, Gillian, works as an administrative assistant for the charity’s London-based parent organization. The newspaper said the former Chilean dictator’s lawyers were hoping to have the ruling overturned on the basis of the connections.
