From Times Wire Reports

Two men were charged with murdering a Detroit police officer in an ambush shooting that left a second officer in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the face. Jamal Randle, 27, and Darryl Boggon, 34, were arraigned on first-degree murder charges and 10 other felonies each, including extortion, kidnapping and attempted murder. They were jailed without bond. Officer Shawn Bandy, 23, died Sunday evening from gunshot wounds to the head. Lloyd Todd, 34, remained in critical condition. A third officer was treated for minor injuries. The three had tried to stop a van late Saturday that police believed was involved in an abduction connected to drugs. Police had received a call that a young woman and her child had been kidnapped. The two had been released before the shooting for a $5,000 ransom, officials said.
