Holiday Theater

“La Posada Magica” has become South Coast Repertory’s other Christmas tradition. Beginning previews tonight and opening Sunday for its fifth year, the play complements SCR’s “A Christmas Carol” as a holiday entry rooted in Southern California’s Latino culture. It centers on a Las Posadas procession, which reenacts Mary and Joseph’s search for an inn, and what happens to reveal the season’s true spirit.

* South Coast Repertory, 655 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. 8 p.m. Previews: $11-$19. Opens Sunday and continues through Dec. 27. $17-$38. (714) 708-5555.
