Lip Service Pays Off for Award Winners

Every year, Blistex, the lip balm people, publishes its own lip awards. Some winners: Most Hunted Lips, Matt Damon; Cleanest Lips, Rudy Giuliani; Fairest Lips, Sarah McLachlan; Most Mask-uline Lips, “Zorro’s” Antonio Banderas; Most Mary-able Lips, Cameron Diaz, of course.

While, Blistex is to be commended for ignoring any obvious link to the presidential scandal, we think they missed a few categories such as “lips we’d like to see closed shut” (Linda “I love you like a mother” Tripp) and “loose lips sink ships” (well, just about anybody with a pass to the Oval Office).

Lipstick Update: After our heartbreaking column last month about failed techniques to keep our lipstick on, we got a call from a reader, Anne Schwartz of Pacific Palisades.

Schwartz, an artist, wife and mother of two girls, offered to divulge her secret. She swears she wakes up every morning at 7:30 a.m. and leaves the house--daughters in tow--at 8 a.m., and that her lipstick lasts through dinner.

“I use the Chanel lip liner. Put it [lipstick] on once. Then I blot my lips with Kleenex and then I reapply it.”

She also uses Blistex Lip Revitalizer to prevent chapped lips, which may also help keep the gloss on. She experimented with different brands before becoming a devotee of Chanel. “I think that certain colors stay on longer than other colors,” she adds. Schwartz wears Rich Coral.

“I wear makeup every day. I even wear it when I go to the gym.” And, she says, it stays on even there.
