Grandma just called. She wants to buy holiday outfits for the kids and says, “The sky’s the limit.” Send her to Plaza Kids in West Hollywood, where the children’s clothes are as fashionable as at the grown-up boutiques in Sunset Plaza.

The red cotton velveteen dress by local designer Helena, $198. Glittery butterfly clips, $5 (we used four), red leather “gem” shoes from French designer Sonia Rykiel for $139 and a silver handbag that’s just like Mommy’s at $29.

For Him:

Chocolate cotton velveteen suit by Daddy-O for $161, matching vest for $46, white pin-striped shirt by H M Woogle Bug for $44, and brown patent-leather short boots by Enzo for $73.

For Her:

Burgundy polyester-cotton-blend dress with petticoat by Jenny Anne Dots at $34, “Jenn”-style shoes by Sprockets at $12.99, handbag by Dover Kidz for $10. We cheated--the headband is from Target for $4.99.

For Him:

Lose the jacket and keep the vest. This plaid vest in cotton and polyester corduroy comes with navy pants, a white dress shirt and a clip-on tie, all from Good as Gold for $34. Black Oxford shoes from High Sierra for $19.99 and headband (again from Target) for $4.99

If Grandma would rather stay on a shoestring budget because the clothes only need to last one holiday, go to Target and Payless Shoes.

For Her:

Red cotton-polyester dress is $19.99, Barbie ankle socks are $3.99, headband for $4.99. All from Target. Shoes were on sale at Payless for $7 and purse for $4.99.

For Him:

Little boys love sweaters more than vests. This Icelandic-type sweater vest, collarless shirt and black cuffed pants are a set for $19.99 from Target. Shoes from Payless are $9.
