Death of Vicki Shade

Re “Expert Backs Police Actions in Standoff,” Dec. 8.

My heart goes out to the family of Vicki Shade as they grieve over her senseless death. I am a bit confused, though, by her brother Donald’s depiction of Roland Sheehan as someone who “acted out of fear” and “did what he saw in the movies.”

The events that led up to this tragedy clearly indicate that Sheehan intend to terrorize Vicki Shade without regard to the law or the consequences of his actions. I guess it is easy to criticize the police when someone has never had to make a life-or-death decision.
