Curry Scores 30 but CSUN Falls to USC

Despite 30 points by sophomore guard Edniesha Curry, Cal State Northridge fell to USC, 77-68, in a nonconference women’s basketball game on Saturday night at USC.
Kristin Clark scored 15 of her 21 points in the first half and the Trojans snapped a three-game losing streak.
Curry made 11 of 26 shots and six of eight free throws. Tina Greer added 11 points for the Matadors.
Northridge pulled to within 71-66 with 3:26 to play.
The Matadors (4-3) committed 33 turnovers and USC (4-3) had 26.
Umpqua (Ore.) 86, Valley 71--Maricella Rodriguez scored a 22 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Monarchs in the championship game of the Valley tournament.
Rodriguez, who finished with 10 rebounds, was selected to the all-tournament team.
Carrie Miller had 17 points and Patricia Nuno added 12 for the Monarchs (7-3).
Moorpark 72, Citrus 64--Christina Mosesso scored 20 points and the Raiders (7-4) won the third-place game of the Valley tournament.
Alofa Tuimoloau and Lenea Gutierrez each had 12 points and Michelle Frankson added 10 points for Moorpark.
Canyons 101, Barstow 48--Sosanna Hallahan scored 22 points and Kameelah Purdom had 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Cougars (6-1) in a nonconference victory at Canyons.
Alicia Weber had 13 points and nine assists and Stephanie Wasserman had 11 points and 11 assists for Canyons (6-1).
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal Lutheran 84, UC Santa Cruz 78--Danny Sweeney scored 16 points for the Kingsmen (2-3) in a nonconference victory at Cal Lutheran.
Valley 58, Santa Barbara 50--Tyree Williams scored 14 points and Joe Bakhoum had 12, to help the Monarchs (8-7) win the consolation final of the Santa Barbara tournament.
