Boris Mironov scored the tying goal with 6.5 seconds left in regulation as the Edmonton Oilers took over first place in the Northwest Division with a 2-2 tie against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday night at Philadelphia.

The goal ruined the return of Mikael Renberg, who was reacquired by the Flyers on Saturday from Tampa Bay and saw limited action with former linemates Eric Lindros and John LeClair.

“It was weird, it was strange,” Renberg said. “But at the same time it was a great feeling. It was special, but I’m disappointed we lost [sic] the game.”

It certainly felt like a loss to the Flyers. Philadelphia’s Eric Desjardins scored the apparent game-winner with 23.9 seconds left, only to have Mironov put in a rebound in a late flurry in front of John Vanbiesbrouck.

The Flyers outshot Edmonton, 4-2, in overtime, but still managed only a season-low 19 shots. An apparent winning goal by Philadelphia’s Keith Jones was disallowed in overtime because Jones pushed goaltender Mikhail Shtalenkov into the net.

“I won’t comment on the officiating,” Lindros said. “I’ll leave that to [reporters].”

Chicago 2, Dallas 2--Two was a popular number in the NHL Sunday night, as Pat Verbeek’s power-play goal in the third period at Chicago helped the Stars stay unbeaten through their last five games.

Chicago’s Ethan Moreau had scored from in front on a rebound of a miss by Doug Zmolek at 10:14 of the third period to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead.

Tony Amonte’s league-leading 21st goal gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the first.

NHL Notes

New York Ranger right wing Todd Harvey has been suspended for one game over a roughing incident involving Vaclav Varada of the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night. Harvey elbowed Varada from behind after he had scored. He will miss tonight’s game against Calgary.
