Parking Restrictions Near Museum Made Permanent

Share

In the hopes of making life easier for residents who live near the Getty Center, the City Council approved permanent parking restrictions Tuesday in the neighborhood around the mountaintop museum.

Last year, the City Council imposed a temporary limit on parking near the Getty, with an exemption for neighborhood residents and their guests.

On Tuesday, the City Council made the temporary limit and the exemption permanent.

Parking around the Getty is limited to two hours, except for neighbors who pick up parking permits.

Streets affected by the council decision are Bel Terrace east of Sepulveda Boulevard, Montego Drive north of Casiano Road, Acanto Place west of Montego Drive, Casiano Road between Sepulveda and Montego Drive, the 800 and 900 blocks of Moraga Drive, and Bellagio Road between the 11700 block and Sepulveda.

“We didn’t want this neighborhood to turn into the satellite parking lot for the Getty,” said Jane Blumenfeld, chief of staff for City Councilman Mike Feuer, who proposed the parking limits.
