Five dilapidated homes in the 300 block of Birch Street are scheduled for demolition within the next three months after the City Council approved the plan Tuesday. The city’s Redevelopment Agency, which owns the four lots the houses sit on, has agreed to sell the properties to East Hills Baptist Church. A condition for the sale of the combined 35,000-square-foot parcel was the destruction of the homes. The church, located across the street, plans to convert the land into a parking lot.
