A U.S. jury raised to $454 million a verdict against affiliates of media giant Time Warner Inc. in a case arising from a contract dispute at the Six Flags Over Georgia theme park.

The jury in Gwinnett County, Georgia, awarded $197 million in compensatory damages last week to the Six Flags Fund and the Six Flags Over Georgia partnership. The same jury on Monday imposed $257 million in punitive damages, according to the plaintiffs’ lawyer.

Time Warner said it would appeal both the verdict and the awards.

The case pitted investors in the theme park, now owned and operated by Premier Parks Inc., against the Time Warner affiliates that managed the park.

Plaintiffs’ attorney James Butler said Time Warner deliberately depressed the park’s value to force investors to sign a new contract.
