Joanne Stanton and Molly McGee, who have retired from the Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees, were recently honored at a reception and dinner.

Stanton was elected to the board in 1979 and served as president several times. She was named to Gov. Pete Wilson’s newly formed School-to-Career Advisory Council and championed the school-to-work movement. In 1990, she received the Orange County School Boards Assn. Marian Bergeson Award and is a recipient of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Division, Annie Accolade Award.

McGee joined the board in 1974 as the youngest school board member in the state. She served until 1983 and was elected again in 1990 and served until recently. She was also selected as board president five times. She promoted school safety and involvement of the community. She received the Woman of the Year award from the chamber’s Women’s Division and is the author of two books for board members.
