Caldwell Ruled Out of Sunday’s Game
Cal State Fullerton center Matt Caldwell will have to sit out Sunday’s basketball game at San Jose State as a result of being ejected from Tuesday night’s game against Quincy (Ill.).
“It’s an NCAA rule, and one that is not subject to appeal,” Big West Conference Commissioner Dennis Farrell said Wednesday.
Caldwell and Quincy center Edwin Charles, who played one season at Fullerton College, were involved in a skirmish after Caldwell was fouled by Charles when Caldwell drove for the basket four minutes into the second half.
Both players were ejected for what the referees ruled was fighting. The Titans won, 96-66.
Titan Coach Bob Hawking had earlier requested that John Dangleis, the Big West supervisor of officials, look into the incident.
