City Hall will be closed until Jan. 4, but police and fire protection services will be unaffected by the closure. And city maintenance crews will be on standby in case of emergencies.
All divisions of the Police Department will be staffed during the holidays, as will the Fire Department’s Fire Suppression Division. But the Fire Department’s administrative office and Community Safety and Services Division will remain closed until Jan. 4.
The closure is a cost-saving measure because business generally slows around the holiday season. City employees are not paid during the closure unless they take it as regular vacation time, city officials said.
