Man, 22, Arrested in Carjackings Involving Valley Auto Dealerships

Police arrested a 22-year-old Pacoima man Monday in connection with a series of carjackings at three San Fernando Valley auto dealerships last week.

Gap Motors in Sylmar, Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills and Pepe’s Auto Sales in Arleta each had vehicles stolen after a customer took a vehicle for a test drive with a salesman, pulled a gun, ordered the salesman to get out and drove off, said Lt. Rick Papke of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division.

Officers spotted a man matching the description of the carjacker Monday evening, driving a 1998 Nissan stolen from Pepe’s, and pulled him over, Papke said. Luis Robles was arrested and booked on suspicion of carjacking.

Police found another of the stolen vehicles earlier in the week. The last stolen vehicle, a 1998 Chevrolet Yukon truck, is still missing, Papke said.

The Pepe’s carjacking occurred Sunday. Gap and Hamer were victimized several days before.
