Several streets will be temporarily closed downtown as the city prepares to host its eighth annual “First Night Fullerton” New Year’s Eve party.

North Pomona Avenue will be closed between Commonwealth and Chapman avenues from 8 a.m. Wednesday until 5 p.m. Saturday. Wilshire and Amerige avenues between Harbor Boulevard and Pomona Avenue will also be closed during that time. Harbor Boulevard will be closed between Chapman and Commonwealth avenues from 6 p.m. Thursday until 1 a.m. Friday. Alternate routes are Euclid Street and Highland Avenue.

New Year’s Eve festivities will take place from 7 p.m. to midnight Thursday. This year’s event will feature about 100 music, art and dance performances at more than 25 locations downtown. The venue will also include a fireworks finale.

Admission to all events is by button, which costs $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and younger. Buttons may be purchased at the Fullerton Museum Center, 301 N. Pomona Ave., or at the event’s entrance. Information: (714) 738-5332.
