Executive at Pimco Becomes Chief Operating Officer
* Kenneth M. Poovey, executive vice president and general counsel of Pimco Advisors Holdings LP in Newport Beach, has been named to the additional role of chief operating officer. Poovey has served as general counsel since 1994, while continuing as a partner in the law firm of Latham & Watkins. In 1997, he joined Pimco as executive vice president. In addition, Ernest L. Schmider was appointed senior vice president. He is executive vice president and chief administrative and legal officer of Pacific Investment Management Co., Pimco’s largest subsidiary.
* Maxwell Miller has been named senior vice president for Prosoft Federal, a new division of Prosoft I-Net Solutions Inc. in Santa Ana. The division of the Internet/intranet training company concentrates on federal government sales.
* Greg Roosevelt has joined Experian, an Orange-based supplier of consumer credit, business credit and direct marketing information services, as vice president of national accounts. He was previously Xerox Corp.’s global account manager for nine years.
* Douglas B. Harding has been named to the new position of quality assurance/regulatory affairs director for Cardiac Science Inc. in Irvine. Harding was with Baxter Healthcare Corp. in Irvine for 17 years, holding quality assurance management positions in three divisions.
* Gerard Hitt has been named vice president, customer support and services for Rogerson Aircraft Corp., an Irvine producer of flight instrumentation displays and other avionics products. Hitt had previously been with Aeronetics, AAR and Sperry Flight Systems.
* Hans T. Koppen has joined Ingram Micro Inc., a Santa Ana wholesale distributor of technology products and services, as president of Latin America operations. He will be based in Miami. Koppen joined Ingram Micro from General Electric Capital Information Technology Solutions, where he most recently served as president for Latin America. He succeeds David W. Rutledge, who had been president for the region since 1996. Rutledge assumes the newly created position of senior vice president, corporate development. In addition, Michael L. Sternad has joined the company as vice president, financial planning and control. Sternad most recently ran his own consulting firm, and before that, held executive positions with Carson Pirie Scott and Federal Express.
* Stephen Asaro has joined D.L.D. Insurance Brokers Inc. in Newport Beach as vice president. He had previously been with Johnson & Higgins in its New York and Costa Mesa offices, most recently as senior vice president and casualty manager.
* Allan Pronovost has been appointed vice president of research and development for Irvine-based Pacific Biometrics Inc. He had been vice president of research and development for Quidel Corp. Sayed Badrawi was named vice president of marketing. He had been director of marketing for Pacific Biometrics. Before joining Pacific Biometrics, Badrawi held management positions at Dorne Medical Software, Abbott Laboratories and Eli Lilly and research positions at Amgen.
* John M. Motter has been selected as director of credit for WestWorks, the subprime mortgage division of Western Financial Bank in Irvine. He was formerly director of credit for Access Financial Lending Corp. in Minnesota.
* Robert L. West has been named to the newly created position of chief operating officer for L.L. Knickerbocker Co., a Lake Forest company with a collectible products division, a jewelry division and an investment division. He had been acting president of Georgetown Collection Inc. and Magic Attic Press Inc., subsidiaries of L.L. Knickerbocker. James Calgiano, head of Georgetown’s direct response division, will take over as interim president for Georgetown and Magic Attic. Peggy E. Vicioso will assume the newly created position of executive vice president of marketing, sales and licensing for the company. Tammy Knickerbocker has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president of brand development. Christine Taylor has been named vice president of Magic Attic Club and Press. She had been director. Nancy O’Donnell has been appointed vice president of inventory planning and purchasing for all products worldwide. Her previous experience was with Cole Haan and L.L. Bean.
* Debbie Evans has been named 1998 chairwoman of the California Assn. of Community Managers’ legal advisory committee. She is responsible for the group’s law seminars. Evans is vice president of Professional Community Management’s Lake Forest management division.
* Glenn J. Brown has been named chief financial officer of ObjectShare Inc., an Irvine computer networking products company. Brown joined the company from LucasVarity where he was vice president and general manager of aerospace customer support operations for North and South America.
* H. Mark Mersel and Tamara Powell Tate have been elected partners in the Orange County office of Morrison & Foerster LLP.
* Sandy Sasser has been named a principal of Esprit Communications Inc. in Corona del Mar. She is vice president of product and business development. Before joining Esprit in 1994, Sasser ran her own advertising agency for two years.
* Lance Souza has been appointed production manager of John Sweeney Photographic Services in Huntington Beach. He had been a production coordinator for three years.
* David C. Blocksom has been named to the new position of director of sales and marketing for Gordian, a Santa Ana Heights product development and technology engineering firm. He was formerly a principal in technology and manufacturing companies, and provided marketing and management consulting services.
* Ron Nelson has joined Morris Advertising in Newport Beach as senior account executive for several real estate industry clients. Nelson was previously vice president of client services at Morrison, Lee & Stevens, and before that, was director of advertising and public relations at Warmington Homes/Bayport.
* Richard M. Brooks has joined Crossroads Capital Partners LLC in Newport Beach as a manager. He was most recently chief financial officer of Physicians Clinical Laboratory.
