Turning Up Heat on Bake Parkway

Share

Re “Driven Mad” (Jan. 20):

Thanks for this article. I don’t know why the Alton Parkway extension is not viewed on an accelerated timetable rather than “sometime after 2000.”

This shows how slowly government reacts to problems facing it squarely in the face. Bake Parkway is already showing significant wear and the asphalt is getting rutted from the heavy concrete-truck traffic.

The concrete processing plant is on Alton Parkway. Why create a situation where these heavy trucks are destroying and costing taxpayer dollars by ruining Bake Parkway?

Also, has anyone ever noticed the high percentage of cars turning right on Portola Parkway to enter the toll road half a mile down the road? Another reason to finish Alton Parkway: an onramp to the toll road is right there.
