Hundreds Protest NASA Launch
Nearly 1,000 people protested NASA plans to launch research rockets filled with chemicals at an abandoned U.S. Army base next week. Chanting “NASA, go home,” the protesters demanded that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration produce studies showing the launch won’t harm the environment. A total of 11 rockets are scheduled to be launched over a period of about one month. The project was designed to measure high-level winds and turbulence in the upper atmosphere to aid in the development of better radio and satellite communications systems.
