Park Plaque to Honor Late Finance Director Temple
A plaque commemorating the city’s late finance director will be placed Thursday in Lions Park.
Susan L. Temple will be honored posthumously with the Circle of Service Award, bestowed by the Costa Mesa Sanitation District and the city. The plaque will salute her “meritorious service and dedication.”
Temple, 42, died in August after a bout with viral encephalitis and meningitis, which cause brain swelling. She is survived by her husband and son.
Her colleagues credited her with being largely responsible for withdrawing most of the city’s funds from the Orange County investment pool before the 1994 bankruptcy.
Thursday’s ceremony begins at 4 p.m. at the park, 1845 Park Ave.
