2 Firms Plan to Build Business Park and Shops

Two companies that own the right to use 89 acres of land along the San Fernando Corridor in Cypress Park will develop a business park catering to the entertainment industry and build a string of retail businesses, Councilman Mike Hernandez said Monday.

The development, to be built by Lincoln Property and PRT Development Corp. in an area of Northeast Los Angeles known as Taylor Yard, could bring as many as 1,400 jobs, an aide to Hernandez said. Hernandez said he hopes to find ways for the businesses to be rewarded for hiring local residents.

“When you look at the size of the land and its proximity to downtown Los Angeles, one could make the argument that this will be one of the most important and largest developments in the city,” Hernandez said. “Our purpose today, more than anything, is to get the word out to our community that something is happening at Taylor Yard, and that we need their input.”
