Moving Along on the Oregon Trail

Share

At the halfway point of the Pacific 10 Conference schedule, USC will try to pick itself up against two struggling schools the Trojans swept in Los Angeles last month.

In tonight’s game, USC plays an Oregon State team that is last in the conference in offense, scoring margin, field-goal percentage, three-point shooting percentage and eighth in free-throw percentage.

But the Trojans fare only a little bit better. They are not among the top five teams in any of those categories. USC plays Oregon, 3-6 in conference play, on Saturday.

Update--USC ended a seven-game losing streak last month by defeating the Beavers, 71-67. Senior guard Gary Johnson led the Trojans with 19 points, including a tiebreaking three-pointer with four minutes left. The Beavers, currently tied for last place in the Pac-10 with Washington State, were led by Corey Benjamin, now the conference’s second-leading scorer. Since that game, the Trojans and the Beavers have gone 1-4 in conference play. USC Coach Henry Bibby is hoping the Trojans can put back-to-back wins together for the first time since they swept the Beavers and the Ducks in January.
