SOME MIGHT SAY: An apparent misinterpretation of a comment made by Oasis’ Noel Gallagher during a recent KROQ-FM (106.7) broadcast from the King’s Head pub in Santa Monica ended up with British tabloids running “Oasis to Split” headlines. Gallagher reportedly commented that “breaking up after the tour sounds about right,” which--given the tempestuousness of the band’s history--led to conclusions that the band was calling it quits. But Gallagher apparently only meant that he looked forward to the band members going their separate ways for a vacation, a notion confirmed in the same session when he enthusiastically talked about plans to record a new Oasis album next year. The band’s management dismissed the breakup reports as “ludicrous rubbish.”
