Re “Sanctuary for a Heritage,” Feb. 1.
This editorial was written by someone who has little knowledge of the history he / she writes about. Van Nuys, Mulholland and Lankershim were hardly “barons whose politics and conniving were every bit as compelling as those of the royal courts.” Van Nuys and Lankershim owned land which they farmed in the San Fernando Valley; Mulholland fought hard to bring water to Los Angeles. They were hardly in the same league as Harry Chandler or his father-in-law Harrison Gray Otis.
Far more important is the fact that the editorial neglected to mention the name of the historic park.
