Advantica Restaurant Group Inc., owner of Irvine-based Coco’s and Carrows, said Monday that it named Craig S. Bushey as president of the two restaurant chains. Bushey was president of Advantica’s 557-unit Hardee’s franchisee operation, which is being sold to Carl’s Jr. parent CKE Restaurants of Anaheim.

Bushey, 42, will be responsible for all of the operations of Coco’s, which has 486 restaurants in the Western United States, Japan and South Korea, and of the 156-unit Carrows, whose restaurants are in the western U.S. Before joining Advantica in May 1996, Bushey spent 22 years at Burger King Corp., where he was managing director of Western Europe, overseeing 600 restaurants in seven countries.

Bushey replaces Mark L. Shipman, who was named to the new position of senior vice president of acquisitions and development at Advantica.
