Council to Consider Rezoning 61 Acres
The Camarillo City Council is to decide Wednesday whether to allow commercial uses on 61 acres between Las Posas Road and the Ventura Freeway.
The proposed zoning change will be discussed at a 7:30 p.m. hearing.
Under its present zoning, the land may be divided into parcels no smaller than one acre. A single-family home and a temporary agricultural stand now sit on the property, with the remaining acreage used for farming.
The Edwards Theater and Wells Fargo Storage facilities border the site to the east. Agricultural land, limited manufacturing and commercial land abut the remaining three sides of the parcel.
City officials say they initiated a zone change to establish consistency among zoning classifications in the area.
Property owners have not submitted plans for the land if the zone change occurs.
