City Hall’s Phone Equipment Damaged by Leaking Roof

Share

A leaky roof during weekend storms created a communications blackout at City Hall on Monday.

City employees arrived at work to find that waterlogged acoustic tiles had collapsed on top of computers and other equipment, knocking out phone service and the main computer bank.

“The leak saturated our acoustic tiles, and they dropped like wet sponges on our communications equipment,” City Manager Tim Casey said.

While technicians worked to restore service, key employees used mobile phones. Desktop computers were still able to run most programs.

Phone service was restored by late afternoon. Casey said no damage estimate had been made.
