3 Arrested in Attempted Clothing Store Robbery
Three men were arrested Tuesday after they tied up several employees of a Central Los Angeles men’s clothing store and attempted to take almost $60,000 worth of suits, police said.
Police said Jose Urieta, 23, of South Gate, Sergio Ibarra, 22, of Lynwood and Jose Jesus Carrasco, 27, of Los Angeles parked a truck at the back of Statement Clothing, entered armed with a rifle and bound three employees with tape.
The owner, Kourosh Yeshoua, called 911 when he arrived at his business and saw an unknown man inside his closed store, police said. After one of his employees come to the door, he thought it was safe and went inside.
Police arrived moments later. Ibarra and Urieta surrendered without incident. Yeshoua, who had escaped with the help of an employee, told police there were others in the building. SWAT and canine units were called in and apprehended Carrasco.
