KCLU-FM Expands to Santa Barbara
Cal Lutheran’s radio station, KCLU-FM, will begin beaming today to new listeners in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Goleta, station officials said.
A new $15,000 repeater antenna on Gibraltar Peak, above the Santa Barbara Mission, was underwritten by donations from Patagonia in Ventura, Robinsons-May of Southern California and Thousand Oaks’ PTS Furniture, said Mary Olson, KCLU general manager.
The antenna was built in the fall after the station received FCC approval for a new Santa Barbara frequency over the summer.
The station, which offers National Public Radio programs, local news and jazz, will broadcast in Santa Barbara County at 102.3 FM. Based at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, KCLU has been broadcasting at 88.3 FM for more than three years in Ventura County.
