A tip from a Web surfer led to the arrest of a San Diego man who allegedly had sex with his 10-year-old daughter and posted pictures on the Internet, according to the FBI.

“The agents walked away with some trauma--it’s a very difficult thing to see,” said San Diego FBI spokeswoman Jan Caldwell on Tuesday.

The San Francisco FBI received a call last week from an Internet user who had just checked a newsgroup site and found the photos.

The bureau turned the tip over to its computer intrusion squad, which confirmed that the pictures constituted child pornography. The photos were disturbingly graphic, FBI spokesman George Grotz said, showing a full range of sex acts with the girl.

Through the screen name, the squad tracked down the Internet provider, AT&T.; The company immediately cooperated, turning over the name and address of the man using the screen name.

Saturday afternoon, agents searched the 42-year-old suspect’s San Diego home and arrested him. His daughter was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services, officials said.

The suspect has been denied bail pending a hearing today.
