3 Teenagers Suspected of Attacking Teacher
Three teenage wards at Camp Karl Holton accused of assaulting a female teacher have been transferred to a juvenile jail, county probation officials said Thursday.
The substitute teacher at the juvenile probation camp suffered minor injuries in the assault, which occurred in a classroom about 2:40 p.m. Friday while other students were present, said Craig Levy, a probation department spokesman.
“The staff responded immediately to break it up and the three youths were identified and removed from the facility,” Levy said. “Anytime we determine that somebody is not suitable for a camp environment, we try to get them out of there as soon as possible.”
The camp in Angeles National Forest is home to 114 boys and young men between 15 and 18.
Levy said the probation department had filed a report requesting that the district attorney bring formal charges of assault and probation violations against the youths.
Levy said he could not identify the alleged attackers or the teacher.
