Water District Begins Constructing Reservoir

Share

Work is beginning on two Irvine Ranch Water District projects in Turtle Rock near the Strawberry Farms Golf Course, including construction of a 10-million-gallon irrigation reservoir for reclaimed water.

The reservoir, which will be partially buried on a vacant parcel, will provide storage and alleviate low-pressure problems during peak irrigation demand for fields surrounding Turtle Rock, and in East Irvine and along Jeffrey Road. Construction should be completed in summer 1999.

The second project, phase three of the Shady Canyon sewer pipeline, will add 2,000 feet to a 13,000-foot sewer line that extends from Bonita Canyon and Sunnyhill University Drive and the golf course entrance. The new pipeline will eliminate the need for two sewage stations and reduce potential odor or overflow problems.

The first two phases of the sewer project were completed last year in cooperation with Strawberry Farms Golf Course. The third phase should be completed by summer 1998.
