Airport Board’s Meeting Notice

Share

“Hangar Project OKd Without Full Public Notice” (Feb. 2) falsely accuses the Board of Airport Commissioners of approving a project to rebuild two World War II hangar structures at Van Nuys Airport “without publicizing the agenda item,” and erroneously reports, “No notice that the commission was to consider such a project appeared on its agenda for that day.”

The board complied with state law in posting and mailing its agenda for its Jan. 13 meeting on Jan. 6. It fully complied with the Brown Act. The initial agenda included Item 29, which requested the board to approve the transfer of LAX revenues of $64.66 million to an unappropriated budget to cover six projects, including “2. Repair of Hangars 901 and 902 at Van Nuys Airport.” Additionally, Item 34 was posted on Jan. 9, four days before the meeting. This item requested board approval of a contract award to a company for design and construction services for “Seismic Repair of Hangars 901 and 902 at the Van Nuys Airport and Allocation of Funds.” Both postings were done in a legal manner.
